Our Pledge To You

It takes many things to be considered a "great" home inspector.  When push
comes to shove, home inspectors are only as good as their training, experience,
certification, willingness to be honest and forthright with you from beginning to end,
and whether or not they were thorough and accurate during the inspection.  Report
quality is just as important.  These things vary dramatically in inspectors in Hawaii.

I counter the local status quo by providing what consumers expect.  I provide what
I'm supposed to, as an independent third party.  Shop around; you simply won't find
my degree of written commitment and care, from any other Professional Home
Inspector or inspection company in Hawaii.

The pledge below is just another way I distinguish myself from others, both
professionally and ethically.  Remember, Hawaii has NO regulation for home
inspectors at this time, which is where policies like mine can help make up the
difference.  That protects YOU.  Don't settle for anything less.

  • THIS IS NOT A REALTOR / BROKER  OWNED OR OPERATED COMPANY.  I have no secret
connections to, or any paid business relationships with any Realtor, Broker, or real estate office.  While
some are, my company is not owned, operated, backed, influenced or controlled in any way, by a
Realtor or Broker, directly or indirectly.  There are no games, or silent beneficiaries.  Instead, I'm
referred for the right reasons- by Realtors and repeat Clients who want the truth about the home they
    are buying or selling.

  • UNBIASED AND INDEPENDENT.  I do not offer to inspect homes I have (or expect to have) a financial
interest in, and remain "loyal to the letter" to the ASHI Code Of Ethics.  I mention this because I never
want my clients to be suspicious that I might be "in bed" with a Realtor or Real Estate Office, etc.  I know
many consumers worry about this, and they should.  I firmly believe that Professional Home Inspectors
should ALWAYS be totally unrelated third parties, and avoid all potential conflicts of interest and
relationships at all costs.  This is the only and best way to insure an unbiased opinion, and the best
way to protect everyone in the transaction.

  • I WANT MY CLIENTS TO BE SATISFIED.  Client satisfaction is my main objective. I spend as much time
as it takes (during and after the Inspection) to do the job right.  This means my clients receive the finest
service and product available anywhere.  Client satisfaction far outweighs the importance of any
compensation I receive for my services.

  • DOING WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO.  I do not write my reports based on Sellers Real Property
Disclosures (SRPD's), or hearsay.  In fact, I refuse SRPD's when sent to me, and decline to review
them.  Why? It's simple:  I do what you hire me to:  A thorough inspection, based on the highest
Standards Of Practice in the nation, and even higher standards locally, reporting on conditions as they
exist at the time of inspection.  Further, SRPD's are typically vague, or otherwise incomplete, and in
many cases deceptive.  I am told my company is the only inspection company locally who does not
want to see the SRPD.  I simply instruct my clients to review the disclosure, as it should be, and stand
ready to discuss any concerns they may bring up based on the disclosure.  This way, my services are
not influenced by, or at the mercy of, omissions (or inaccuracies), of others.

  • NOT HAPPY?  If you, my client, are not satisfied with our services, or believe we did not perform as
contracted, please write me within 60 days of the original Inspection. You have my word:  I'll do
everything in my power to satisfy you, including a free re-inspection if needed or a full refund if
necessary.  I'm here to help.  I have confidence in, and stand behind my services.

  • INTEGRITY.  If I arrive to perform your inspection, and decide the home is in severe disrepair following
initial review, (might I suggest the type project no one in their right mind would take on, or the type they
later regret),  understand I reserve the right to actually decline your inspection.  You'll have to respect my
judgment here.  And, if I cancelled the inspection, you would not be charged a dime.  Further, it does not
make sense to inspect a home you plan on totally gutting or rebuilding, unless you don't mind spending
the money on our services- in hopes you will get a better deal on the home as a result.  You can look at
it this way: Sometimes, I have to make the same type judgment as the Captain of an airliner might, to
simply protect myself, and everyone on board.

  • FLEXIBLE.  If I arrive and encounter major defects early into the inspection, I'll give you, my client the
option to continue, or discontinue the Inspection.  I never advise to buy or not to buy.  I'll reduce the fee
accordingly to a fair consultation fee based on time.  The inspection stop-option is offered for clients
who attend the entire Inspection only.

  • MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.  If you, my client encounter a major defect or problem ($1000 dollars or
higher to repair) that existed at the time of our Inspection (one that we did not report on, that existed and
was readily accessible at the time of Inspection, and was not an exclusion of our Standard of Practice
or Contract), we will promptly refund the full Inspection fee, UP TO $500.00.  This must be brought to my
attention in writing within 60 days of the original Inspection date.

  • NO GAMES HERE.  You may be concerned that I compensate or accept compensation from Agents or
Brokers for referrals.  Relax. I never have, and I never will.  We don't play games with your future or
livelihood.  When an Agent refers my company, they do so for good reason.  It says they care about you,
and that they trust us.  If your Agent doesn't refer us, call us.  Quite simply, my business is successful
and growing because of key values that are really hard to find in today's world: honesty, high ethical
    standards, and integrity.

  • CALLING A SPADE A SPADE.  You'll never hear me soft selling a real problem.  And if I hear your
Realtor trying to minimize my findings, I'm going to take charge.  I don't minimize things to satisfy the
agenda of any Agent or Broker.  Professional, ethical Agents and Brokers always appreciate this
position, and it has proven to be the key to my success. You can expect nothing less than a thorough,
honest, accurate inspection from my company.  My loyalty is to those I contract with and perform the
inspection for.  Home Inspection is not a popularity contest. It is about informing you properly about one
of the biggest investments you will ever make.

  • NO REPAIR SOLICITATIONS HERE.  I do not offer or solicit repair business from Inspections. I'm a
specialist who's job is to educate and guide you about what you are buying, not make repairs.  By
design, I am not a handyman or contractor on the side. This means you are going to get an accurate,
honest evaluation, without any hidden motives or agendas.

  • I WORK WITH EVERYONE.  I do not discriminate or tolerate discrimination; I enjoy working with
    ANYONE within Hawaii's diverse community.

  • I CARE ABOUT YOU.  I'll do everything in my power, by recommendation, to make sure you and your
home are as safe as possible.

  • POST INSPECTION SUPPORT.  If you ever have any other related questions or concerns, just give me a
    call.
