The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), founded in 1976, is North America’s oldest and most
respected professional society of home inspectors. ASHI’s goals have always been to build customer
awareness of the importance of a quality home inspection and enhance the professionalism of home
inspectors.

Whether you’re a home buyer, seller, real estate professional or home inspector, you’ll recognize the value in
working with ASHI and any of our certified home inspectors across the United States and Canada.  ASHI home
inspectors stand out as models of professionalism and superior customer service.  Contact ASHI toll-free at 1-

In brief, the Hawaii Master Home Inspector program (HMHI) was designed and established to better assure
Hawaii's Realtors and consumers they are dealing with the finest Professional Home Inspector's available, in
the absence of much needed state legislation for the industry locally.  HMHI is a voluntary program, available to
all of Hawaii's willing, qualified Inspectors.  Without state legislation, this may be the best way to insure a well-
rounded inspector and company as it is administered and controlled locally.

The program was designed & registered by Wayne Blackburn, (Owner and President of Inspector Homes,
Inc.) following his 5th year in business on Oahu as a highly respected professional Home Inspector.

HMHI prerequisites include achieving and maintaining top-level Membership with ASHI, completing at least
1500 verifiable fee-paid full home inspections, and much more.  Participants must also agree to adhere to
highly professional appearance requirements (such as personal and vehicle), a rigorous consumer protection
program, and offer payment options including credit card and escrow billing at no extra charge.

By design, the program further protects Hawaii's Realtors and consumers by prohibiting Inspectors who are
licensed Realtors (active or inactive status) from participating.  The goal here is to maintain maximum industry
separation, to help prevent possible conflicts of interest and the potential for otherwise biased inspection
services.   Wayne Blackburn is the Founding Member of this program, who has either met or exceeded all of
the program requirements.

  • Currently, no other inspector in Hawaii has the right to display this logo.  If you see this logo in use by
others, please contact us immediately for verification. Interested in participating? Click the logo or call
    Wayne at 808-258-9268.
